Midlothian, TX Emergency Electrical Services: Hourly Cost 2024

Why We Don’t Price by the Hour (and Why That’s Good for You)

In an emergency, the last thing you need is uncertainty. That’s why Cool Hand Electric doesn’t use hourly or time-and-materials pricing. We’ve moved away from that model—for one reason: It doesn’t serve you.

Here’s why:

1. Hourly Pricing Creates Anxiety, Not Clarity

When you hear “$180 to $250 per hour, plus parts,” you’re left guessing what the total will be. That’s not fair—and it’s not helpful when you’re trying to make a fast, informed decision.

2. You Deserve Predictable, Upfront Pricing

We quote the full job up front. Whether it takes 20 minutes or 2 hours, you approve the price before work begins. No stopwatch. No surprises.

3. Time ≠ Risk

Some repairs are dangerous but quick. Others are time-consuming but simple. Time-and-materials pricing doesn’t reflect the actual risk or value—it just tracks minutes.

4. People Aren’t Machines—and You Shouldn’t Pay the Price

If a tech is moving slower because it’s 105° outside, or it’s the fifth emergency of a 14-hour day, that shouldn’t cost you extra. Time-based pricing punishes the customer for human conditions. We don’t do that.

5. Upfront Pricing Builds Trust

When you know the full price before we start, there’s no wondering what the final bill will be—or whether the clock is still running. That’s how trust works.

🔍 Q: “So how do I know how much it will cost?”

A: Most residential service companies (including us) charge a small dispatch or travel fee—typically $75 to $125 in DFW—to cover fuel and pay for a licensed, criminally background checked drug-free technician (not a straight-commission salesperson) to assess the issue. (Yes, drug-free techs are rare in the trades—ask around!)

That tech gives you a clear, upfront price before any work begins. You decide from there. No pressure. No guesswork. Just anxiety-free decision-making.
